London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, the five-star hotel in Mayfair, has appointed Martijn Zengerink as General Manager, according to The Hotel Magazine.
Who is the new general manager?
Zengerink joins from within the Marriott family. He most recently held a multi-property General Manager role in Scotland. His career has taken in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, with leadership positions in Dubai and Thailand across a range of hospitality brands.
He is originally from the Netherlands. He holds a degree in Hotel Management from Hotel Management School Maastricht and an MBA from EHL Hospitality Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland.
A digital overhaul under way
The appointment comes as the Mayfair hotel prepares to complete a major global digital transformation project. It is set to become the first Marriott hotel across Europe, the Middle East and Africa to implement the new system.
The change will see the hotel retire systems that have been in place for 40 years. The hotel says the new system should improve operational efficiency and how teams work together. It also expects colleagues to spend less time navigating processes and more time engaging with guests.
What it means for the hotel
Zengerink will lead the team through the transition, with the aim of building on the hotel's position as a leading hospitality destination in the heart of Mayfair. The hotel describes the project as an investment in its future and in the guest experience.
