Mayfair is getting a new hotel from the team behind The Wolseley. The WestDill Mayfair will be the first opening under the Colbert Collection, a new brand from The Wolseley Hospitality Group, named after its Chelsea restaurant Colbert.
The building
The hotel will take over a Grade-II listed building designed by Sir William Curtis Green, which was formerly a NatWest bank. It sits opposite the original Wolseley restaurant on Piccadilly, at 65 Piccadilly, London W1J 9ED.
What to expect
Inside there will be 50 bedrooms and suites, plus a restaurant and bar. No details of the food and drink offering have been announced. London On The Inside reports that it would expect the menu to differ from The Wolseley's, given how close the two are, and perhaps to echo Colbert, given the name of the collection. That is the publication's speculation rather than anything confirmed.
The building's past life as a bank also raises a question about its vault. The publication says it is keen to see what the hotel does with it, but no plans have been revealed.
The Colbert Collection
The group describes the Colbert Collection as hotels and resorts that "effortlessly integrate the local community and social spaces to connect guests with the people around them and inspire them to write their unique travel story together". It also says they are places "where every guest is united by an independent spirit and a love of adventure".
