Bar Finch has opened on Cork Street in Mayfair, London W1, the latest restaurant from Charles Finch, according to A Rabbit's Foot, the publication he edits and founded.

The kitchen

The restaurant is run by head chef Tom Trubshaw, previously with Soho institution Andrew Edmunds. A Rabbit's Foot describes the menu as built around seasonal produce. It mixes classics, including a club sandwich and caesar salads, with more refined dishes.

What was eaten and drunk

A Rabbit's Foot's deputy editor was invited to eat at the restaurant and described the decor as stylish and the menu as perfectly balanced. On an early visit, the publication's writer ate Oysters Rockefeller, steaks and a club sandwich. The Swimming Finch cocktail is the drink the publication recommends ordering. It pitches Bar Finch as a place for a long, slightly boozy lunch, though it also mentions breakfast and dinner.

A Rabbit's Foot also notes that the restaurant's team has spent two years bringing Charles Finch's vision together. It describes the team as largely made up of experienced London chefs, managers, consultants and bar staff. The publication has a clear connection to the venue, so its enthusiasm should be read in that light.
