99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant is set to open in Mayfair this November, with a new flagship at 22 Park Lane. Luxury Hospitality Magazine reports that it is the brand's first opening in the UK.
A Madrid group arrives in London
Brothers Fernando and Pedro de León founded the restaurant in Madrid in 2005. The group already operates in Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Monaco, Rabat and Budapest. Its latest restaurant is at The St. Regis Budapest, and a Doha opening is forthcoming.
The brand points to awards elsewhere. Its Abu Dhabi restaurant has held a MICHELIN Star for three consecutive years. Abu Dhabi and Dubai were each awarded One Toque by Gault&Millau in 2024, and 99 Sushi Bar Rabat received Two Toques in 2026, in the guide's inaugural Moroccan edition. Group CEO Jaime Castañeda has led the brand's expansion across Europe and the GCC.
The food
The Mayfair restaurant presents a modern take on traditional Japanese cuisine, with European techniques woven in, inspired by the founders' travels. Premium produce is central, notably Atlantic fatty bluefin tuna. The brand's philosophy is summed up as "99% perfect", reflecting its belief that absolute perfection remains unattainable.
The space
Interiors use gold accents, mirrored surfaces, amber-lit textures and velvet in purple and crimson. There are landscaped outdoor terraces with sculptural bonsai installations.
- Dining area: up to 60 guests
