Bar Des Pres, Cyril Lignac's restaurant, is on the move within Mayfair, London W1. After nearly four years on Albemarle Street, Hot Dinners reports, it is relocating to South Audley Street.

The new space

The restaurant is taking over the site that was once Socca, which gives it a light-filled corner position. Hot Dinners says the room has been dramatically changed, with a large counter seating area added. The counter was always one of the highlights of the Albemarle Street location.

The back of the restaurant has also been rethought. Hot Dinners describes it as a tricky space to fill at the old address, because the main dining room was clearly where people wanted to be. At South Audley Street it has been converted into a private dining room area.

The menu

The approach stays the same: a mix of French and East-Asian cuisine, so few changes are expected. Dishes promised for the new location include:

  • Crunchy crab and avocado galette
  • Marinated sea bass with yuzu, dry miso and rocoto
  • The signature profiteroles with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and Chantilly

Where to find it

Bar Des Pres is at 41 South Audley Street, London, W1K 2PS. More information is available on the restaurant's website and on Instagram at @bardespreslondon.

Hot Dinners says the design looks impressive and puts the restaurant in a more prominent spot, and suggests it will be worth a revisit for fans of the original.
