Mazarine, the French seafood restaurant on Hanover Square in Mayfair, will mark Beaujolais Nouveau Day with a three-course menu and a flight of Beaujolais cru wines. It runs at lunch and dinner from Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st November. The menu is the work of executive chef Thierry Laborde and is built around French classics.
Why that date
Beaujolais Nouveau Day falls on the third Thursday of November each year. It marks the release of the first wines from the year's harvest in France's Beaujolais region. The young wines are known for their fresh and fruity character and are traditionally greeted with celebrations across the country.
The menu
Laborde's menu combines traditional French dishes with the restaurant's usual focus on seafood. Every diner starts with a Croque Mazarine, the kitchen's version of the croque monsieur. After that, there is a choice of starters:
- Cecina, air-dried beef served with olive oil and aged Parmesan
- Escargots with garlic and parsley butter
- Petit Poulpe de Porquerolles, a baby octopus dish with lemon and herbs
For the main course, the options are:
- Cod with crushed new potatoes and beurre blanc
- Coq au Vin, made with chicken braised in red wine with lardons and mushrooms
- Tournedos de Thon, a tuna steak served with a peppercorn sauce
Each main comes with a choice of side. Dessert is profiteroles filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with a warm chocolate sauce. The menu is priced at £95.
The wine flight
Over the three days, diners can also order a flight of three 125ml glasses for £50 per person. It comprises:
- A 2024 Côte de Brouilly from Daniel Bouland
- A 2023 Fleurie La Madone from Domaine Chamonard
- A 2024 Morgon Corcelette Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Chamonard
The Morgon draws on earlier vintages from three of the region's crus. It can also be ordered as a welcome glass for an additional £10.
Booking and times
Mazarine opened in December 2025 and has already been recommended in the Michelin Guide. The Beaujolais Nouveau menu is served during normal lunch service, from 12pm to 2.45pm, and dinner service, from 6pm to 10.45pm, on each of the three days. The restaurant is at 22 Hanover Square, London W1S 1JA, and tables can be booked through its website.
