The Shepherd Mayfair has opened in Shepherd Market, in the heart of Mayfair, London W1. The Caterer reports that the 82-bedroom hotel is a joint venture between Bain Capital and Orka Investments, spread across 33,600 sq ft over six floors.
The rooms
The boutique property is split between 70 rooms and 12 suites, with rates starting from £500 per night. According to The Caterer, each room has a desk that converts into a dressing table and a console table that becomes a chessboard. Bathrooms are marble and stocked with Floris London amenities.
Eating and drinking
The ground floor is home to Fayre, a 62-cover neighbourhood restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dishes include a twice-baked Cheddar cheese soufflé and a strawberry and Champagne trifle.
The hotel also has the Lounge, a 46-cover all-day café and bar with an outdoor terrace. The menu includes a lobster and prawn brioche roll and a braised beef short rib croquette.
In November, the hotel is due to welcome the late-night cocktail bar Teddy's.
Wellness
Guests looking for wellness experiences can speak to the concierge. The concierge can arrange personal training sessions with E-Pulsive, either in the guest's suite, in a nearby Royal Park or at a fitness studio in Belgravia.
The setting
Shepherd Market was originally conceived by the architect Edward Shepherd between 1735 and 1746.
